Our design and build journey
Our design and build journey
We live in the Borneo farmhouse at Ngapuh Homestead. It was built from a large tree that fell naturally here during a storm many years ago. The timber was left to rot, but we salvaged what we could and carried it by hand to the site. All made possible by the community who supported us along the way.
The house sits lightly on stilts, letting rain runoff pass beneath. We chose a metal roof with large overhangs, typical for this region, durable and well suited to the rainforest.
True sustainability is quiet, local and regenerative, made of materials that grow, that have lived and will live again. Where that tree once fell, new trees will rise within our lifetime.
